Ilona: dare you to move 2.5.13
hi sweet Ilona. this post is inspired by your dad. man does he love you! here's what he wrote me in an email about you recently. I think about Ilona every time I hear this song [Dare You to Move, Switchfoot] and just get so teary-eyed excited as to who she will grow up to be. I'm so excited to see a little you running around! :). I so love that she'll have attributes from each of us, as well as going to be a little girl we raise up with our best efforts. She will be amazing. I just love the feel of this song, and how expectant the words are about the baby and his/her future movements. God views us the same, and it's a good reminder that He is on the edge of our seat for every choice we make: how we think... how we act... how we live each and every moment of each and every day... now, i'm not sure that the song is really about the new life of a baby, or if it's about the new life we can have in Christ when we receive His free gift of salvation. i don't think it matters really. having you, so new and completely dependent on us for your every need is a constant reminder of the posture we should have as Christians. "therefore is anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Cor. 5:17). Christ dares us to let Him move in our hearts and then watches us with expectation as we move in our lives for the glory of His name. On a different scale, but so similarly, we are on the edge of our seats Ilona, watching you and daring you to move. We dare to you move when we put you on your tummy and cheer you on to roll over (a whole 2 months early!) We dare you to move when we give you silly faces and hope that you'll return the favor with your beautiful, all face-consuming smile. We dare you to move every day and have not tired of watching and waiting in the process. We love you more than we thought possible, and are already so expectant to see what a person you will become and how your life will count for Christ and bring so much light to this dark world. We dare you to move, little one, we dare you! Here are the lyrics to the song, Dare You to Move And the Video
